The Blue Riders originated in the Spring of 2007. It was an idea whose time had come.
The seed originated, in part, from a day ride taken in the late summer of 2006 by a group of five riders from South Lake Tahoe — a loop through the Sierras over Monitor Pass with lunch at Topaz Lake Casino was just the ticket to get the buzz going.
The Blue Riders is a group of motorcycle loving enthusiasts of all ages who enjoy each others company while riding, touring, socializing and having a good time. The Tahoe Blue Riders is a chartered American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Social Club.
The club averages around 50 members. Some are novices, some are highly experienced riders, and most are somewhere in-between. Everyone can ride with us as long as they’re responsible riders.
We ride everything from crotch rockets to laid-back road bikes, touring bikes to dual-sport bikes. Whatever model or brand you ride, you’re welcome to ride with us!
To encourage our members to get out and ride, the club is a meeting place for riders who likes to go on a variety of rides each week during the season — see our Rides‘ page as well as the calendar for a current ride schedule.
Our club meeting is held the last Thursday of each month at Lakeside Inn and Casino. We get together for dinner at 6pm and the meeting starts at 7pm. This is a fun time for all as we’re a pretty diverse group with lots of banter going on! Everyone is encouraged to bring their ideas for rides and activities. Make sure you subscribe to our calendar for information on upcoming meetings.
Spontaneous rides often come up so make sure you join the club to get the invites. Then there’s the very popular Christmas party in December that nobody wants to miss.
We also do additional activities in order to help our local community; We do fundraisers and collections for our favorite charity — the Boys & Girls Club of South Lake Tahoe. Additionally we provide support for a variety of South Lake Tahoe official bicycle events throughout the spring summer and fall.
